Vaccination

Children
Recommended vaccinations
Recommendation against yellow fever
Mandatory vaccination for entry
A certificate when arriving from a country at risk is required from one year of age.

For a family safari, it is necessary to check in advance whether the selected antimalarial medication is suitable for the child’s age and weight.
For tourists, the following are recommended:
  • all routine vaccinations;
  • hepatitis A;
  • hepatitis B;
  • typhoid – mainly for trips to rural areas or non-standard accommodation;
  • rabies – when in contact with animals and working in nature reserves.

In South Africa and Namibia, a risk of rabies has been recorded among Cape fur seals. Do not touch, feed or approach wild marine animals.

Malaria prophylaxis may be required when traveling to certain areas of KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, including some routes near Kruger National Park.
For a trip directly to South Africa, the vaccine is not recommended.
When entering directly from Russia, Europe or a country without a yellow fever risk, a certificate is usually not required.

It is required for travelers from one year of age arriving from a country at risk. The rule includes transit lasting more than 12 hours through an airport in such a country.
This is especially important when flying to South Africa after Kenya, Uganda and other endemic countries.
Before traveling, we recommend consulting your doctor.
