Namibia has a diverse climate, ranging from desert to tropical. The best time to visit is from May to October (winter), when temperatures are more comfortable.

Namibia is an amazing country in south-western Africa, known for its spectacular natural landscapes, diverse wildlife, and unique culture.

It borders Angola to the north, Zambia to the east, Botswana to the south, and the Republic of South Africa to the south-east, while the Atlantic Ocean lies to the west. The country is famous for attractions such as the Namib Desert, Etosha National Park, and picturesque canyons.

Entry Requirements

– A passport valid for at least 6 months after the trip.
– At least 3 blank pages in the passport.
– Proof of accommodation and a travel itinerary.
– A return ticket.
– Proof of sufficient funds.
– Travel medical insurance.

When traveling directly from Russia, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is generally not required. It is required for travelers aged 9 months and older arriving from a country with a risk of Yellow Fever transmission, including after a transit of more than 12 hours.

Vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Typhoid are recommended, along with ensuring that routine vaccinations are up to date. Malaria prevention may be recommended for travel to northern and northeastern regions.

Russian citizens traveling to Namibia are advised to check the current visa requirements. The required travel authorization can be obtained online in advance or upon arrival at an authorized port of entry.

The fee is approximately NAD 1,600 (around €80–90). The permitted stay may be granted for up to 90 days.

For citizens of Russia
on Arrival/eVisa system.
As of 2026, for citizens of nationalities included in the expanded program, authorization can be:

  • obtained online in advance;
  • obtained at an authorized airport;
  • obtained at certain land borders;
  • obtained through a consular office.

Advance online application is preferable.
Traveling with children
When traveling with minors, it is recommended to have:
  • birth certificate;
  • notarized consent of the absent parent;
  • copies of the parents’ passports;
  • documents concerning custody, divorce or death of a parent, if applicable.

The requirements are checked particularly strictly when crossing the land borders of southern Africa.
  • passport valid for at least six months after the end of the trip;
  • at least three blank pages;
  • completed application form;
  • proof of accommodation;
  • itinerary in Namibia;
  • return ticket;
  • bank statement or other proof of funds;
  • medical insurance;
  • proof of payment of the visa fee;
  • documents for a minor child.
For citizens of countries outside the African Union, the indicative fee is 1,600 Namibian dollars, which is approximately 80–90 euros depending on the exchange rate.

For citizens of African Union member states subject to the visa requirement, the fee may be 1,200 Namibian dollars.

The authorization may be issued for a period of up to 90 days.
Since 1 April 2025, Namibia has changed its visa rules with regard to a number of countries. Citizens of many states that previously entered without a visa must now obtain a Visa on Arrival or electronic authorization before the trip.

Travel with infants to remote areas of Namibia requires additional preparation due to the distances to medical facilities.
The following are usually considered:
  • hepatitis A;
  • typhoid;
  • hepatitis B;
  • routine vaccinations;
  • rabies – for camping, expeditions, trips to remote areas and contact with animals.

In 2026, international travelers are also recommended to check whether their polio vaccination is up to date.

The risk of malaria depends on the season and region and is most relevant for the northern and north-eastern areas of the country.
The vaccine is not recommended for visiting Namibia.
When arriving directly from Russia, Europe or a country without a risk, a yellow fever certificate is usually not required.

It is required for travelers from 9 months of age arriving from a country at risk. Transit lasting more than 12 hours is taken into account.
